LANGUAGE PROGRAMMES FOR ADULTS
|
|
|
|
ENGLISH, GERMAN, FRENCH and ITALIAN
courses for adults, carried out by Yurena, have been verified by the Slovenian
Ministry of Education. In addition to verified courses, Yurena carries out
courses in SPANISH and RUSSIAN, courses of other languages upon demand, as
well as individual and group courses in SLOVENE FOR FOREIGNERS. Courses take place in two semesters.
The autumn-winter semester (enrolment from 1st until 20th
September) starts at the end of September and finishes at the end of January.
The spring semester (enrolment from 15th January until 15th
February) starts in the middle of February and finishes at the end of June.
You will find the on-line enrolment form on our website (see Enrolment). In order to make an accurate assessment
of a student's level, all non-beginner students are welcome to take a
placement test in each of the languages taught at Yurena. The placement test
is free of charge and does not oblige the student to enrol on any course. We
recommend that you contact us prior to the placement test so that we can make
the necessary arrangements. Our courses take place in classrooms,
equipped according to the latest teaching standards, in groups of up to 8 or
11 students. Our teachers use a combination of classical teaching techniques
and modern approaches to teaching, including the use of DVD-players, overhead
projectors and interactive boards. Most of the advanced courses, conversation
courses and business courses are taught by native speakers. General language courses for adults are
carried out in 80-hour modules and take place twice or once a week in two
105-minute sessions (twice a week) or one 135-minute session (once a week).
An 80-hour course (twice a week) thus takes about four months (one semester),
i.e. two general language course levels per academic year. The rest of the
courses (conversation courses, business courses, Cambridge examination and
Slovene national examination courses) are carried out in 40-hour, 60-hour and
80-hour modules, and take place each semester or are run once a week
throughout the academic year. Yurena issues an internal certificate
to every student who passes the end-of-course test. Students who wish to
obtain a Slovene state certificate can apply for SLOVENE STATE EXAMINATIONS
in ENGLISH, GERMAN, FRENCH, ITALIAN and HUNGARIAN. For any further information,
see chapter »Cambridge examination and Slovene national examination« on our
website, or visit the National Examination centre website. |
